the air filter on the basic 125s is a bit restrictive , alas no "hi flow" filter commonly available for this bike I was working in the filter box and realised that the houding that unscrews is in two parts and cthere is a large tubec that funnels all the air , but seems to restrict it instructions and picci: remove side panel and 3 screws holding your air filter , hold the casing so that you are looking side in at the bottom screw , you will see a gap where you can insert a screwdriver , separate the two halves and cut the tube off , thus allowing a lot more air to flow unrestricted after doing this I fine tuned my mix screw for the extra air going in , I have not changed my main jet , but come the nice weather I will check this out my first attempt was simply unclipping the snorkel ,you could see the filter , the inlet roar was loud and it was obvious that a lot more air was entering , I cut the snorkel section , clipped it back in , noise at a good level , more air travelling thru , seems a win win and an alternate to a "pod" type filter happy riding alan other helpful hints and tips are on this forum , go to the home page and look ! please join the forum and contribute! sinnis.proboards.com/

I will be giving this a go on Sunday. I might also try making up a few different air filters in different grades of foam

Hi Alan, What does chopping the casing actually do? I understand you would get increased airflow to the engine so does that equal better combustion and loader noise from the exhaust? Would you have to alter the mixing screw on the carb after changing this to sort out the mixture now you have now air flowing?
Thanks Mark

welcome mark , if you look at the genuine gn you will see a suttle difference and the bike breathes a lot better , I have a suzuki one on my sinnis and the sinnis one on my old gn , the sinnis is fantastic the gn now crap , very little difference to noise , mix may want ritchening a bit tho , get the suzuki ine if you can , failing that mod your sinnis one

I have the Herald classic 125 (I will need to take it apart to look but I am pretty sure it looks like the one described initially in your first post. With the suzuki cap on it does the side cover still fit over ok. From what I can tell from your picture is that the suzuki one does not have a solid inner tube and it is in fact slotted is that correct?
Cheers Mark

both the herald and the sinnis are same factory (queggi) the suzuki cover is interchangeable with ours , the airbox to frame fitting is different , so you use just the removable section ,with the trumpet , yes it fits under our side cover , the top photo showing the trumpet is actually sat on my sinnis (black engine)

Hi, Got home from work and had a look at the bike. I see what you are saying now. I see that the default one has the plastic tube inside the cage as it were. So cutting that inn tube out would unblock the air flow. I have seen a Suzuki one on eBay for about £8 so will probably just get that and as you say it works better than cutting the original. Cheers Mark
