I'm a careful rider and have only ever had a couple of accidents in all the time I have been riding, but both have been on my Apache.
Both tyre related
#1: Diesel spill = lowside..........................Tyres questionable? The bike was less than a month old then, so I got the orbital sander on them and that was it, cured, better grip all round.
#2: Near collision with a bus = Friday the 13th, braking hard and literally putting the bike down before I went under the bus saved me from death. Tyres again, very questionable.
Weather was cold but perfectly dry, but it makes me wonder, if the road was even the slightest bit damp, I am sure I wouldn’t be here. I heard stories, but now I am convinced that stock tyres are plainly s**t!
Any way a few weeks later and the TPI has paid out for the bike and returned it as a Cat C write off.
Great, it's all fixed, properly and running well once again.
So, I've got some spare cash and seriously need to consider using it for some replacement rubbers for the stock bo***cks/rubbish that Sinnis (factory) fitted.
I went to two local dealers and they were just taking the 'p'. Their sarcastic remarks included: Rare as hens teeth......Wouldn’t touch it, I've broken two forks already........Profiles will be different, affecting the speedo and mileage.......Dont sell tyres........seriously, a bike dealer that doesn’t sell tyres?
Well, all said, it sounds like a total load of bo****ks to me!
I am sure you can get some decent, sticky, branded tyres for this bike. Not a mismatch, but a pair, in the right size.
So, at the end of the day, does anyone have any good/bad experience with new tyres on their Apache/Blade?
Any recommendations and disappointments here would be appreciated from me and other readers, I am sure.
Your tyres are one of the most important things on your bike. Good ones save you from the jam maker.
